As a senior citizen, I never thought I would be in a position where I would need to rely on rental assistance to keep a roof over my head. But life can be unpredictable, and sometimes circumstances beyond our control can make it difficult to make ends meet.

After my husband passed away, I found myself struggling to make ends meet on my fixed income. My rent kept increasing, and soon I found myself choosing between paying rent and buying groceries. I knew I needed to find a solution, but I wasn’t sure where to turn.

That’s when I learned about rental assistance programs for seniors. I did some research and found out that there were several programs available in my area. I was hesitant at first, but I knew I had to do something to keep myself from becoming homeless.

I applied for rental assistance and was relieved to find out that I qualified for the program. The process was straightforward, and the staff was very helpful in answering my questions and guiding me through the application process.

With the help of rental assistance, I was able to keep my home and avoid becoming homeless. The program covered a portion of my rent, which made a huge difference in my monthly expenses. I no longer had to choose between paying rent and buying groceries or medication.

But the benefits of rental assistance didn’t stop there. The program also offered support services to help seniors like me with tasks such as grocery shopping, transportation, and home repairs. These services were a lifeline for me, especially as I got older and found it more challenging to do these things on my own.

Through rental assistance, I was able to maintain my independence and dignity. I didn’t have to rely on family members or friends for help, which was important to me. Instead, I was able to live on my own terms and take care of myself with the help of a supportive community.

I am grateful for the rental assistance program and all the people who made it possible. Without their help, I don’t know where I would be today. I want other seniors to know that rental assistance is available and that they don’t have to face financial hardship alone. With a little bit of help, we can all live with dignity and security in our golden years.
